Claiming Your Place At The Fire

I've just picked this book off the shelf again, Claiming Your Place At The Fire. Written by Richard J. Leider and David A. Shapiro, it is subtitled, Living the second half of your life on purpose.

I share this with you today because I found it a very powerful read. Perhaps you've heard the quote, “… the idea of having to die without having lived is unbearable.” Erich Fromm wrote that and this:

Man’s main task in life is to give birth to himself, to become what he potentially is. (thank you, Wikipedia!)

Are you at that point where life is “working” – you have a job, a home, the family is grown – life is “good”? If so, what a blessing!

And, are you ready for what's next? What does “retirement” mean to you? What is it that you are now marvelously prepared to become, to give birth to in the world?
