What makes you come alive?

Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive. ~ Howard Thurman

Today as I read Thurman’s words, I have two thoughts.

First, “Yes, please”. The world does need people who have come alive and who, in their doing, are alive, energized, passionate. That is a tremendously different energy than doing because we have to, we should, “they” said so. So, please go about your doing this day from a place of inner aliveness!

My second thought has nothing to do with “doing” but everything to do with being alive. Sunday, I drove two hours, west to east, from 4:00-6:00 pm.

Why am I telling you this?

Because Sunday the moon was a “Super Blood Wolf Moon”, full, appearing larger than usual at the horizon in a clear blue sky. And while I usually make phone calls (hands free) or listen to music while I drive, this day I couldn’t do anything but drive safely while being present and awed by nature. I felt held in a timeless expanse of beauty, sun setting behind me, moon rising ahead. For almost two hours, I was alive, appreciating the natural wonders of our universe.

What does it feel like to BE alive?
In what moments do you treasure your aliveness?
What prevents you from noticing?

What is YOUR wisdom?
