Fly away with me!

Wings4By6

This morning, I pulled the Wings Inspiration Card at random. One question:

What keeps you grounded?

caught my attention. My spirit desires experiences like seeing the natural wonders in our world, yet my actions do not support my spirit’s dreams. Actions could be as simple as visioning, reading about those wonders, talking with others who have been there and allowing their excitement to rub off. What keeps me grounded?

  • Unwillingness to make time for those simple actions.
  • Beliefs that it will never happen anyway.
  • Waiting for someone else to make the first move.

Does any of that sound familiar? Today, take a moment and ask yourself a few more questions from Wings:

What captivates your spirit?
What uplifts your wings?
What keeps you grounded?

Finally:

What step will you take today?

Time to act!

CutToTheCore

Bring to mind a situation, relationship, belief that both challenges you and that you are ready to experience shift around.

Got it?  Now:

  • If you had to resolve this situation to save your life, what would you do?
  • If you knew you could solve it with no negative consequences, what would you do?
  • If this situation weren’t in your awareness, what would be different?
  • What action is yours to take now?

For what will you exchange your valuable life energy?

There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost. Martha Graham

I woke after a restless night and part of me was ready to let that fact color my day. It didn’t take long before I realized that I had choice. I could go with tired, listless, frustrated and scared that I’ll never sleep well again.

Or I could remember that I have been given this day, one more series of moments (and I can’t know how many!) filled with life energy. It is up to me to choose how I will invest this very precious resource. No one else can do that for me. And the energy that is mine to invest in this now moment is forever gone once the moment has passed.

What choices will you make today?
For what will you exchange your valuable life energy?

Generosity …

Reading from the book, Wherever You Go, There You Are, by Jon Kabat-Zinn:

WhereverYouGoThereYouAre

Such is the power of mindful, selfless generosity. At the deepest level, there is no giver, no gift, and no recipient … only the universe rearranging itself.

This quote struck me at my core. We – all of us – are part of the Universe, part of all that is in the cosmos. We are part of humankind, part of this amazing planet Earth that we call home, part of the evolution of consciousness and matter. We are part – among – connected. We arrived with nothing and we will leave behind all that we have used on the journey. And along the way, haven’t we simply been part of the Universe in constant motion: rearranging, creating, destroying, evolving, learning, growing, holding on, letting go?

What if, along the way in this journey of life, we practiced mindful, selfless generosity from an awareness that all is one?

Might we approach today with:

How am I to support the Universe today?
What generous rearranging is mine to facilitate?
How am I to lend my life energy to the greater whole?

And since all is one, I must be aware that I am not alone and ask:

How is the Universe rearranging to support me?

Ready for new ideas?

It occurred to me this morning, that my life has been so very enriched by many talented authors who have taken the time to put their ideas and learnings from their life into books. They have taken me so many places on my life journey – places that the people and activities around me simply couldn’t have.

Not every book suggested to me has resonated. Others I’ve read over and over, each time gleaning something new, hearing an old idea in a new way.

Today, I offer you a growing list of books that have nourished me. Give yourself the gift of fresh ideas!
