This Door is Closed

A small bird just fluttered in front of my window. Twice it hit the glass before giving up and flying away.

Sometimes, like that small bird, we so desperately desire a given direction that we continue willfully toward a given end despite being told “No, not an option”.

Today, become aware of ways in which the Universe is suggesting that this door is closedThen allow yourself to be with:

  • the energy you will reclaim by releasing your will
  • the opportunities, the other doors which are already opening before you

Then ask:

What direction would serve me now?

Dare to go there!

Stop Procrastinating!

“Procrastination is, hands down, our favorite form of self-sabotage.” Alyce Cornyn-Selby

What happens when we procrastinate? Not only does “it” not get done, but the energy lost to the act of procrastinating is painful. Do any of these sound like you?

  • berating yourself for being lazy
  • always racing because you waited until the last minute
  • never feeling good about what you do because you did it in a hurry
  • the list of to-do’s is so long you don’t know where to begin

Today, gift yourself with action on one item. Just one! Estimate how long it will really take to complete. Set aside “time and a half” – if it will take 10 minutes, set aside 15. When the time comes to do “it”, set a timer, and just begin. When you are finished, celebrate!

What would it feel like to stop procrastinating?

You’re Not Perfect …

“The thing that is really hard, and really amazing,
is giving up on being perfect
and beginning the work of becoming yourself.” Anna Quindlen

You are not perfect. I am not perfect. We never will be. We are, however, the only human being on this entire planet who has the best chance to be as close to perfect as possible at being ME.

How are you trying to be someone else’s idea of “perfect”?
What will set you apart when you allow it?
What makes you, YOU?

Daydreaming …

“Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities.
Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.” Gloria Steinem

When was the last time you practiced a little daydreaming? Maybe you lost this precious activity along with other childish things. Maybe you replaced it with negative projections and awfulizing about the future. How is that working for you? Today, I am challenging you to put “Daydream” on your to-do list! What possibilities live in your dreams?

Let Their Light Shine

Yes … let their light shine! I know it’s usually let your light shine. Today, however, let their light shine invites us to encourage others to be all they can be. Yet here’s the twist. I notice that if I am focused on “you” and perhaps wanting something from you, expecting you to meet my needs, or judging what you are doing and suggesting how you might improve yourself, basically, when I am thinking about “you” as insufficient, I am not seeing your light, your beauty, your inherent inner perfection!

Today, I ask you to see others in ways that allow you to let their light shine in your eyes.

What  turns on their light? What does their inner light reveal? How does their brightness guide you when you allow it?
