It’s all “WE”

Fact: NOTHING we have ever accomplished in this lifetime, from our first breath to our last, is ever completely our doing. Nothing. We are born into another’s hands and care. We are taught by those around us, our basic needs are provided by others, the books we read were written by others, the tools we garden with were created by others. Truly, no matter how self-reliant and independent I think I am, I am WE.

Today, I invite you to wonder with me:

What if I intentionally honored WE creation?
What if I embraced WE thinking?
What is the power in WE?

Beauty in Interdependence

This morning, the sunrise expands across the eastern sky in an array of orange and pink. I stand in awe. For the first time in life, I realize – really realize – the interdependence required for the “sun” to be so beautiful. (Yes, I know I am slow!) The sun does its part, of course. But without particles in the atmosphere for the light to pass through and clouds to reflect the light, we would see only the sun.

I wonder:

What would be even more beautiful if “we” worked together?
What in your life needs a dose of interdependence?

Agree or Align? What works?

Relationships, especially those in family or work settings, are often challenged by disagreement. How do we move forward as a team, as a couple, when we disagree? How do we come to agreement? Do we have to? Too often, the process is filled with argument, giving in, giving up, running away, manipulation, frustration. Sound familiar?

If you are seeking agreement first, you may have it upside down. Often when we insist on agreement, we skip over truly understanding the others’ viewpoint. We also neglect to accept the other as a separate and unique individual with their own intentions, desires, ideas about the situation.

Consider a new way of thinking about and approaching the process. Try starting with alignment or acceptance. Continue reading “Agree or Align? What works?”

You Don’t Know Me

You don’t know me, I have changed –
inside, my thoughts, all rearranged.
Confused awhile yet now I place
less stock in what the mind creates.

I see with eyes which look beyond
the rules defining human bonds.
The Soul which lives as me, as you,
is not confined to trite “I do”

for It loves all as Soul connection
seeks to further Life’s intention.
Simply growth, awareness, joy,
not perfection, wealth or ploy.

You don’t know me, here as Soul,
present to the sacred whole.
Yet I see you as you are –
ever changing, reaching far.

Human paths we travel on,
side by side from dusk till dawn.
Souls they journey, free to fly –
unique and precious, you and I.

With You

With you there is a love
that fills the air we breathe:
a gentle understanding,
a common thread we weave.

With you I’m not afraid
to show the essence that is me:
the good, the bad, the ugly.
For, through all, your love I see.

With you my heart’s desires,
treasured dreams that I hold dear,
are safe from scorn and laughter
so I trust and freely share.

With you I have a friend
who ever seeks to understand
the hopes and joys and challenges
which make me who I am.

And though it may be hard
to believe what I now say:
“I love you more than ever
on this precious Christmas day!”
